About Huxley

Huxley is a 5-year-old Shih Tzu who came into rescue badly matted and in need of a little TLC. Underneath all that neglected fur was a sweet, affectionate little guy who is very happy to be loved and cared for again. Huxley is a cuddler at heart. He loves being close to his people and is used to having someone around much of the time. If you sit down, there is a very good chance Huxley will see that as an invitation to join you. He does well with other dogs, although he doesn't really understand how to play with them. Humans, however, are much more his speed. Huxley loves to play with his people and will happily bark at you to let you know it is time to participate in the fun. Toys are one of Huxley's favorite things in the world. He fully believes toy boxes should be emptied regularly and thoroughly. Squeaky toys are his absolute favorite, and he takes his squeaker quality-control duties very seriously. Huxley is used to having a physically fenced yard and would love one in his new home. He also enjoys going for walks and exploring the neighborhood at a nice Shih Tzu pace. At bedtime, Huxley sleeps quietly in a dog bed beside his humans' bed. He is doing well with house training, but like many dogs adjusting to a new environment, he will need supervision, consistency, and frequent potty breaks while he settles in. Huxley is looking for a home where he can be loved, included, played with often, and spoiled a little bit the way every former scruffy dog deserves to be.
