About Jack and Melan

Due to personal reasons, we have to rehome our pair of bonded rabbits, Melan and Jack. We did reach out to the local shelters where they were adopted, but they were full and could not help us. We are hoping that one of the rabbit lovers here who happens to live in the Bay Area would be a good fit. We adopted Melan in 2021 from a local animal shelter. Her age was unknown. The only information the shelter had on her was that she was abandoned at a local park. She was aloof and sassy when we first got her but also very resilient. We were told that they only placed the most resilient rabbits on display at the main floor of the shelter because the loud barking from other sheltered dogs scared some rabbits. She is spayed, has mellowed out over the years, and loves treats. A few months after we adopted her, we took her to a different shelter where rabbit volunteers helped us to see if she would bond with another rabbit. Imagine our surprise when the instant bond occurred with Jack (born 6/2021). Jack is a very sweet rabbit who was born with an eye defect. One eye was smaller than the other and didn't completely open up. We were informed by the shelter that it wasn't a problem, but upon later examination by our veterinarian, it was recommended to have it completely removed because it appeared to be irritating him. Jack fares well with one eye. He is neutered, extremely sweet, and loves to be pet. Both rabbits are used to children, as we are a family of seven. They live indoors in our living room.
