About SPOT

Introducing Spot! Spot's foster has had a change of circumstances; this boy needs a committed foster or forever home soon! He is the charge of a CA rescue and is being fostered in Port Orchard, WA. Meet-and-greets/transport can be arranged outside of Kitsap County. Heartworm tested, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Spot is a healthy, intelligent 60-pound 12-month-old American Bulldog. He's still got youthful lankiness to him and likely isn't done filling out! He was rescued from an overcrowded CA shelter in early March. In his time outside of the shelter environment, he has shown he is housetrained and understands basic commands. He handles well and can be brushed, lifted, bathed, and have his feet touched and nails trimmed. He's a curious boy who's very receptive to training. He can be encouraged with a caring hand, verbal praise, and, of course, treats! Spot still has some of his wiggly puppy exuberance when meeting new people. He's had positive, friendly interactions with young teenagers. He has not been tested with young children. He has shown jealousy toward the foster's dog and they have been kept separated. Spot becomes reactive when he sees another household dog excited, receiving attention, or being around food. Spot has proven to be a fast learner and we do not believe this behavior cannot be corrected. However, it would require a cautious and skilled caretaker. As such, it's probably best for Spot to be an only dog. This sweet boy has a lot of potential! Whether you'd be open to fostering or adopting, we look forward to telling you more about him.
