URGENT- AT LA CITY SHELTER WHICH IS MORE THAN FULL!! PLEASE HELP! Los Angeles (Van Nuys area), CA- LA City/East Valley location- ID #A2270690 -'BARON' - ADORABLE, FRIENDLY, YOUNG 54 lb CHOW/SAMMY LOOKING MIX IN NEED OF A LOVING AND RESPONSIBLE HOME, OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP Help! The LA city shelter is full. Please help us find a good home, or foster and rescue, for this adorable young man who came to the shelter as a stray on 5/4. While he was chipped, sadly, his owner never showed and was just made available to adopt or rescue. Baron is listed as only 2 years old and weighs 54 lbs. While he is listed as a chow, we believe he has at least another breed in him like Samoyed or eskie. Most recent Shelter notes from 5/13 state, 'Took Baron out this afternoon for some video and a quick assessment. Upon taking him out of the kennel, he did great. He was excited to go out for a walk. Walked him into the small yard where ACT #253 assisted. Baron explored the yard and allowed us both to be around and pet him. Walked well on leash and we had no issues placing him back in his kennel. Reading his past behavior notes seems like he may have an issue with being restrained'. Earlier notes days before, state, 'He was his usual quiet self with me. He stood and I knelt down. He sniffed me and my leash. I asked if he wanted to go out for a walk? He instantly barked and his tail started wagging. I opened kennel door he was a little wary of leash but I told him he couldn't go out without it. He came forward again and allowed me to leash him. We went out to parking lot where he did his business. Dog is house-trained (defecate/urinated outside) and sits on command with treats.. Relaxed after relieving himself. Social, confidant dog, wasn't reactive when I moved him to outside kennel. Took into medical to do intake. Loose body posture while waiting for a free RVT, tail wagging as people approached. He protested the leash muzzle but was able to correct him. Patient will not allow full examination ACT able to retrieve with rope leash and muzzle. He was wagging his tail. Did bite off tip of my bordetella vaccine syringe and alligator rolled a couple of times while being rope muzzle and restrained. Overall, go slow with him. Use caution when restraining as he will protest but with correction will stop.' He was also tested with other dogs in playgroup to which he had: No Play Style, was socially tolerant, but had some stiff greeting and mostly kept to himself. At one point, the shelter notes state he 'became affectionate towards M husky in Y that tolerated him, easily steerable with vocal'. We were given his complete behavior and medical notes, which can be shared, and should be requested and or interested. If you are interested to adopt Baron, and can give him a forever and responsible home he so deserves, please contact the shelter directly using his link: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/LACT/A2270690 and/or by calling the LA City shelter at (888) 452-7381 and ask for his ID. If you can foster, or foster to adopt (where a rescue would then help with medical), please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with his placement, and would try to pair you with a willing rescue. Please note rescue groups usually need a committed foster to usually save a dog. If you are a rescue group and interested in rescuing this sweet boy, please email the shelter right away to all addresses at: [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]. Please also contact Robin at [email protected].
