About Luigo

Luigo is a Sato Dog rescued from Puerto Rico. Satos, also known as 'Puerto Rican Village Dogs,' are a genetically diverse breed type adapted to tropical life on their island. Luigo resembles a Dutch Shepherd/Fox Terrier mix, but Satos are hard to classify since they're not well known outside Puerto Rico. He has a medium length coat, weighs around 45 pounds, and is 1 year old. We do not recommend him for a home with cats. Because Luigo is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog to show him the ropes. Luigo is looking for his forever family! He likes to explore the neighborhood on walks. He has so many kisses and so much love and loyalty to give. Luigo currently lives in a DC area foster home. His foster says: Luigo (Wee-Gee, is what we call him) is a sweetie who is full of energy and affection. He likes his crate and improving every day on the leash. He knows sit, stay, stop, and is making progress on 'leave it/drop it.' Luigo loves the dog park and gets along great with his fellow pups. He just wants to play and run. Wee-Gee has done great meeting all humans, including kids, but he's shy at first. Once he gets to know you - which won't take long - he's a snuggler, curling up on your lap or with a dog buddy at night. If you're a runner, you'll have an eager companion. Finally, Wee-Gee's facial expressions and posture give off a royalty vibe that are hilarious and adorable. Special Adoption Considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans committed to socialization. Luigo's $460 adoption fee includes the cost of being neutered, vaccines, other veterinary care, and transport.
