About 'HOBBES'

SAN BERNARDINO, CA IN S CAL- GORGEOUS PUREBRED CHOW 'HOBBES', a 5 yr old CREAM CHOW BOY WHO DOES WELL W CAT IN HIS HOME, SAID TO BE GREAT W PEOPLE AND KIDS HE KNOWS, NEEDS NEW LOVING HOME DUE TO OWNER CIRCUMSTANCES Please no negative comments as the focus has to be on finding placement, and we are Not the owner. Please help us find a loving, chow home for this handsome boy who was adopted as a little puppy. and has been in the same owner ever since. Unfortunately, due to unfortunate owner circumstances, they reached out to us for help as we/they do not want him to end up at a shelter, and are seeking a loving, forever home. The owner also let us know Hobbes is 'Great w/ people. Timid and will bark at first but give him a few treats and he is totally friendly !' Like many chows, 'Tends to be scared/timid of people approaching him. If you are around him enough, he will be comfortable with you. Been this way since I had him. But a simple treat and he will come right up to you.' The owner further added, 'I had him around kids a ton growing up so he is wonderful around kids. He just lays around all day, and kids just play or lie with him �٪�. Hobbes owner also told he 'does not chew on furniture, shoes, or anything! He has always been an inside dog. In my 5 years of having him he has never attacked anyone.' Hobbes is said to be 'Great with cats! Grew up around cats. Moreover, I would allow the cat itself more time to adjust to him than he having to adjust to said cat. Dogs, in my experience, tend to be aggressive towards Hobbes. I introduced him to several of my friend's dogs in the past and none of them like him sadly. The owner said, 'If/when he sees another dog, he'll normally just go the other direction where the dog isn't. We don't do walks either, so when he has to go I just stand outside with him as he relieves himself on the lawn and then he comes back to the door when he is done doing his thing.' However, we would recommend homes and children who are familiar with the breed and know to be respectful and give a chow space. A slow intro with other pets is also highly recommended, we do not know how he may do with another dog, and a meet and greet would be recommended. Hobbes is now 5, but will turn 6 on July 7th. While he was neutered as an older puppy, the owner no longer has these records and did let us know he does need to be brought current on shots. While Hobbes has not had any recent vetting, his owner says he appears healthy. The owner says, 'Hobbes deserves full love and attention and with the shifting of my priorities to building a family, moving this year, and increase in financial burdens it has been harder and harder to tend to him properly. It is also extremely difficult to find apartment(s) that allow chow chows.' Therefore, no apartment renters please. We have many nice videos of Hobbes showing him to be very loving and playful. All adopters will be asked for a home check (which may be virtual), an application, a vet reference, and a signed adoption contract agreeing to bring his vaccinations current and vet exam. Please note adoptions typically need to be done in person. However, a further away home who can arrange their own transport may be considered if the home is qualified and risk free (ie. no other pets).
