Why Fees Are Used: Rehoming fees are not intended for profit, but rather as a protective measure to ensure the pet is going to a safe, responsible home. A 'free' pet is sometimes seen as a risk for abuse or neglect. Molly is a sweet 4 year old, female approximately 10 pounds, snuggly pocket shi tzu who only wants to be with her human, she's playful, potty trained most of the time, meaning if you are potty trained, she is also. Molly goes out to potty every couple of hours, and is the most adorable ball of fur and kisses. Molly is a pocket dog and would fit perfectly in a sling or dog front pack. Good things come in tiny packages. Right now, we're working on crate training both Molly at night and they don't make a peep once the lights go out. Bed at 8 pm and awake at 6 or 7 am, ready to potty, eat and go out one more time so their morning routine is set. We also are trying out a sling for Molly to be next to her person, since she loves human contact and just wants to be loved on, but she's not been trained with it so, it requires some small amounts of times (like going to get the mail and coming back is a small start with the sling, she wants to be next to you. Playing: Molly likes small stuffies, and small tennis balls. Molly is dominant once she's comfortable and because she wants to be your sole focus, it's important that you are ok with a little clinger. Molly prefers to be the only dog so she can have all your attention. Molly has regular grooming needs. Molly doesn't have a thick coat of fur, when she goes outside she wears a coat if it's cold or raining, her fur will get soaked otherwise and she will become cold and it's challenging to rewarm her, the hair dryer is scary to her even when at a distance. Just use a rain coat. If temps outside are cold she needs a sweater or warm coat, she gets chilled just as we do. Social: Partially potty trained if you take her out on a regular schedule she will go outside. No aggression with adults and other small dogs. Afraid of big dogs, until they know they are not in danger. Still never leave a small dog unattended with a large dog until you have a proven history of safety without issue. If Molly is adopted the normal period of decompression because she's in a new home (can take weeks or up to 3 months). Rescues are always complicated, but trust in the process and you'll build a relationship with the dog through routine, play time, love and trust. Walks: Obviously she's a companion dog and not an athlete dog, walks are very short, around a small area is all she needs. I would not take her to walk at a dog park or a public trail. Molly is the size of a bunny and we all know that's not safe and large dogs can be big goofy and lovable until they see an animal they perceive as prey. Small dogs fit in this category (prey). If I'm walking her and we're approaching a large unknown dog, the safest way to protect her would be to pick her up. If you're not willing to do this, you would not be a candidate for a small dog. Medical: Please establish vet care immediately, to prevent an expensive ER visit and to have someone to call if you just need advice, work closely with your veterinarian to ensure you're doing the right thing. When a little dog is sick they can take a down turn much quicker than a large dog. Note: They are a fall hazard for elderly. Molly would be great for a person or couple that's retired. Molly would also be a great work companion if you have a stay-at-home job. Microchipped Spayed DOB: Oct 18, 2021 Cats - unknown Children - unknown High attention needs, want to both be on their person's lap. Not apartment dogs, as apartment situations change and I don't want to see one more comment of 'Rehoming due to we aren't allowed to have a dog where we're moving to' however a bark collar that vibrates has proven to be effective for any anxiety barking.
