About Pluto

Pluto is a friendly, high energy dog who we adopted in August 2025. He is good with both dogs and humans and is always excited to meet new people. We love Pluto and want him to love us but we have been struggling with his guarding behavior since January 2026. TRAINING AND BEHAVIOR: Pluto has received formal professional training for general obedience and walking. He walks very well on slack leash. Pluto is considered high energy (he is a puppy after all!) and loves to play outside, go for long walks, and play with other dogs. He loves going to puppy day care once a week to play with the other dogs. He would be a great companion for hiking, camping, swimming, and generally being outdoors. He began guarding high value treats and areas in our home which has resulted in episodes of aggression towards us. WHAT PLUTO NEEDS: Pluto needs a home with strong leadership in an owner who is experienced with his breed. Pluto is generally submissive to other dogs and would likely do well in a home with another dog as a companion. We have a newborn at home and although he has not been aggressive to her or our cats, we are not comfortable taking a chance with displayed guarding issues when she starts crawling and walking. I know in the right situation, Pluto will be a great dog and wonderful companion. It breaks our heart that that may not happen with us but we want to what is right for him and our family.
