Foster or Adopter Needed by 6/3/26 Benji needs a committed foster or adopter to secure his ride from Fort Bend Animal Services in Texas to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on 6/3/26 in partnership with Dog Is My CoPilot. Without a home commitment, he cannot make transport. Meet Benji Benji is a 5-year-old Basenji mix looking for a fresh start after losing the home he had for the last four years. He was recently surrendered by his owners through no fault of his own and is now hoping to find a family who will love him forever. According to his previous family, Benji did well with other dogs and children. He was also housetrained and enjoyed bones and squeaky toys at home. Since returning to the shelter, Benji has shown himself to be a sweet, affectionate dog who simply wants comfort and lots of pets. Like many dogs used to home life, Benji is finding the shelter environment stressful and can be timid around new people at first. He may need a moment to sniff and warm up, but once he feels safe, he happily leans into affection and stays close by your side soaking up attention. Benji walks beautifully on a leash and does not pull at all, making him an easy and enjoyable companion for walks. He already knows how to sit on command and takes treats very gently from your hand. Benji would thrive in a calm, patient home that uses positive reinforcement and gentle handling.
