Foster or Adopter Needed by 6/3/26 Storm needs a committed foster or adopter to secure his ride from Fort Bend Animal Services in Texas to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on 6/3/26 in partnership with Dog Is My CoPilot. Without a home commitment, he cannot make transport. Meet Storm Storm is a happy, friendly 4-year-old Lab mix who is ready for a fresh start with a family of his own. He arrived at the shelter with a microchip, but sadly no one ever came to reclaim him. Despite that, Storm has kept his joyful personality and love for life. This fun-loving boy is always excited to meet people and is happiest when he is playing, exploring, or soaking up attention. Storm absolutely loves toys and will happily chase them, toss them around on his own, or engage in a game of tug-of-war with his people. He also enjoys rolling around in the grass and making the most out of every moment. Storm already knows how to sit and lay down on command, though his excitement for treats sometimes makes it hard for him to wait patiently for his reward. He is very food motivated and eager to interact, which makes him a great candidate for continued training and enrichment. He has a high-energy, typical young lab personality and would thrive in an active home that can give him plenty of exercise, structure, and engagement. While Storm was previously described as being a bit overwhelming for some dogs due to his energy level, shelter staff recently introduced him to a calmer dog and he adjusted very nicely. After some initial excitement, Storm read the other dog's cues well and settled himself down, showing he can coexist appropriately with other dogs. Apply: Fill out an adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.) Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.) Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI, or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $125 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old. **Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**
