Gadget is an adorable little fellow in need of a new home. His owner noticed cataracts forming when he was around 9 months old, and she wants him to 'have a better quality of life' than she is able to provide. She has reached out to other rescues but has not yet had any luck. Name: Gadget Age: DOB September 2020 Breed: Chihuahua (5 or 6 pounds) Sex: Male (neutered per owner) Location: Franklin County, GA Vet Information: Per his owner, Gadget is current with his rabies vaccine but not current on other vaccines. He has not had a recent heartworm test but has been on monthly heartworm preventative until this past month. He is neutered. Dog Information: Gadget is an indoor dog with run of the house part of the time and is crated part of the time; he is housebroken but not leashed trained. He's a friendly little boy and is good with people of all ages, other dogs, and cats. He lives with other dogs and cats and is good with them all. Gadget is not possessive of toys, treats or food and has never bitten. He only snapped once right after they first got him about five years ago, and that was when his owner was holding him as he was barking, and her mother reached out to him. He did not make any contact with her. He has not snapped since then. Gadget's owner feels he adapts well to new situations and tells us he's stayed at her mother's and did fine. Gadget may have light/dark vision (he may see shadows and seems to do better in light), but appears to be mostly blind due to cataracts. His owner tells us he hugs the walls when he's walking and looks for landmarks. Gadget has flaky skin and dermatitis and receives medicated shampoos. His owner feels this may be allergy related. He does well on grain free fish food and not as well with food that's chicken based. He appears healthy otherwise. His owner wants us to know what a good boy he is! She tells us, ''He's the best dog, good with everybody and everything and always wagging his tail.' **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
