RESCUES NEED FOSTERS- CA ANYONE HELP? CHOW OR SIMILAR BREED EXPERIENCE REQUESTED We are in urgent need of finding a chow savvy foster or foster to adopt, as well as rescue for this beautiful but very neglected girl who ended up at the county kill shelter as an stray on 4/21 with a coat in dire need of grooming from utter neglect. Fondly named Korra by the shelter, she is estimated to be only 2 years young and weighs 46 lbs. Understandably, she arrived timid, unsure, and deeply cautious of new people Sadly, the shelter said 'She came in with a makeshift rope and a crude 'tether' nail attached - a heartbreaking clue that her past likely lacked the safety and care every dog deserves. While she can't tell us her story, we can certainly help her rewrite the next chapter. With patient, gentle handling, Korra is beginning to show glimmers of trust. After spending quiet time relaxing in the yard, she has allowed staff to pet her on the head, along her back, and even enjoy those coveted booty scratches. She's still learning what it means to walk on a leash, and she's taking it all in at her own pace. We'll be learning more about her comfort level with other dogs soon, but for now she's showing steady progress with people who move slowly and respectfully. Korra is a sensitive soul who's trying her best to understand that the world can be kind. She needs a rescue ready to offer patience, structure, and the gentle reassurance that better days are ahead! Tested her with one social dog today and she showed some interest , no aggression seen with the dogs in yard next to her or the dog we introduced her to in the yard .' The shelter has now issued an urgent notice Korra needs rescue. Due to her condition, the shelter has yet to make her adoptable, and she remains in Rescue only status, meaning only a rescue group can save her. Rescue groups need fosters, or someone interested to foster to adopt. She cannot be adopted directly from the shelter at this time. although we are happy to try to request this for you, but it may not be possible. Korra has now been at this high intake shelter for several weeks and may be placed on a deadline soon in a full shelter, or euthanized without warning. Therefore, if you are chow or similar breed savvy, and can foster or foster to adopt, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement asap, and can try to pair fosters or interested parties with a willing rescue group. Ideally, we need a foster near the shelter or in N Cal. Shelter has offered to spay, vaccinate, microchip and heartworm test at No cost to a rescue.
