Loving Home Needed - Casper (Great Pyrenees, Service Dog) %90%BE Fayetteville, North Carolina It breaks my heart to write this, but I am looking for a very special home for my dog, Casper. Due to serious upcoming medical procedures and an extended period where I will be physically unable to care for him, I have to make the hardest decision I've ever faced - finding him a home where he can continue to thrive. Casper is not just a pet - he is my service dog and my companion, and this decision is being made only because I have no other choice. %90%BE About Casper Male Great Pyrenees Approximately 2 years old Neutered Up to date on vaccinations Microchipped Large, strong, and highly intelligent I have had Great Pyrenees for over 50 years, and Casper is very much a true example of the breed. He is: Deeply loyal and bonded to his person Naturally protective and highly aware Extremely devoted and eager to please He wants to do the right thing and works hard to understand what is expected of him. s%A0%8F Important - Please Read Casper has a strong prey drive, especially toward small animals (including cats), and takes his role as a protector seriously. He will actively keep unwanted animals off your property, which is typical for this breed - but it means he requires the right environment and experienced handling. Because of this, Casper needs: An experienced large-breed or livestock guardian owner A secure, fenced property (non-negotiable) No homes with cats or small free-roaming animals Structure, consistency, and confident leadership He is not suitable for apartments, neighborhoods with loose pets, or first-time dog owners. %9D%A4%8F The Right Home Casper would do best: On land, acreage, or a rural property With someone familiar with Great Pyrenees or guardian breeds In a home where his instincts are understood and respected He is at his best when he feels he has a purpose and a person to protect. Why I'm Rehoming This is not a decision based on lack of love or commitment. I am facing serious medical procedures and a recovery period where I will be physically unable to properly care for or manage a dog of his size and strength. He deserves stability, leadership, and a life where he can succeed - and I cannot give him that right now. What I Am Looking For A responsible, stable, and permanent home Someone experienced with large guardian breeds Someone who understands both his loyalty and his instincts Ideally willing to stay in touch (if possible) This is incredibly difficult for me. Casper is family - my partner - and letting him go is something I never thought I would have to do. If you believe you are the right fit for him, please reach out. - James
