Mr. Banks is a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees/Lab mix with a calm, observant nature and strong guardian instincts. He's a loyal, sensitive dog who bonds deeply with his person and prefers a quiet, predictable home. He enjoys lounging, keeping an eye on his surroundings, and going on relaxed walks-he is excellent on leash and non-reactive to dogs, people, and squirrels in that setting. Banks would do best as the only dog in the home. He is currently stressed in a multi-dog household. He is gentle with older children who understand boundaries. He knows basic commands (sit, stay, come, lay down, leave it, 'enough') and is very food-motivated. He does not need a highly active home-he prefers a slower pace. It's important to be transparent: Banks has anxiety, particularly in busy or unpredictable environments, and has shown resource guarding. When he is feeling overwhelmed, he has used his mouth and has nipped. Because of this, he will need an experienced, patient owner-ideally someone familiar with guardian breeds-who can provide structure, clear boundaries, and a calm environment. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations, with no known medical issues. This is not an easy decision. Banks is a special dog who will thrive in the right home, but he is not a fit for every household. We are committed to finding him a safe, appropriate placement where he can feel secure and succeed.
