About Blaze

Yorkie mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Blaze is a 13-year-old Yorkie mix boy who weighs a 12 pounds. Blaze is being fostered in St. Augustine, FL. Four months ago, we got a request to help a hot mess of a dog who landed in a local shelter. This dog looked like he had walked straight out of a fireskin blazing red, no hair, and in obvious discomfort. We called him Blaze. Today? Well, have a look! His coat is slowly growing back. His skin is calmer. His spirit? Blaze NEVER gave up for a second. Blaze is a 13-year-old Yorkie mix gentleman being fostered in St. Augustine, FL, and while hes made incredible progress, his journey isnt over yet. Blaze came to us with a bladder stone and kidney stones. We attempted surgery to remove the bladder stone but it was adhered to the bladder wall and rather than risk bleeding or bladder perforation the decision was made to try him on a stone dissolution diet and we HOPE the stones dissolve on their own. Blaze isnt exactly thrilled about his new menu (can you blame him?), but his foster mom is trying different brands and combinations. In one month, hell have another ultrasound, and were all hoping for good news. Despite everything, Blaze remains unbelievably sweet. He still deals with some itching, and managing his medications has been a challengeevery time we try to wean his prednisone he starts itching - but through it all, he just wants love. He leans in for pets. He trusts. He hopes. Blaze isnt a perfect dog. He need to be on RX dog food and skin medication for the rest of his life. He isnt completely house trained and his vision and hearing arent that of a puppy anymore. But what Blaze lacks in the perfection arena he more than makes up for in the sweetness category and HE IS PERFECTLY IMPERFECT TO US. He is so deserving of a forever home of his own. He just needs someone who will see his worth, his fight, and his heartand choose him anyway. Could you be that special person?
