Help Zoey!!! Zoey arrived at the shelter on April 9th. Large dogs have poor tolerance being caged for such long periods as experienced in shelters (practically 24/7), besides the kennels being relatively small for larger breeds of dogs. Shepherd breeds tolerate it even less, since are active dogs, need physical and mental stimulation, with strong socialization drive; being caged up so much in such an environment, mostly alone, surrounded by hundreds of barking dogs, is an additional stressor, can be even more stressful than for some other breeds. Since they don't tolerate well, at risk of possibly being 'humanely' euthanized, tragically, due to mental distress, the longer they stay at the shelter, besides the usual risk of being euthanized for lack of space. Her owner died and there was no one to take her, nor the other two dogs that she lived with (male and female dogs). One dog was tragically euthanized, other was rescued, Zoey is the only one left of the 3 at the shelter. Per volunteers at the shelter, Zoey walks 'wonderful' on leash, is a bit timid, but warms up easily, sweet, and was a 'perfect angel' while having her nails clipped. Good doggie. Please come meet her, contact this page regarding procedure. Once adopted, she will be spayed at no charge by the shelter, same for core vaccines and microchipping. She can also be fostered through a rescue organization (can provide direction). Come.
