BEYOND URGENT, NOW ON EUTH LIST! DOWNEY, CA- LOS ANGELES COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL- ID #A5765577 - 'KIM'- A BEAUTIFUL SENIOR CHOW/RETRIEVER X LOOKING GIRL IN NEED OF A LOVING HOME OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP- SHELTER IS FULL AND ISSUED A 72 HR NOTICE 4/28 OF PENDING EUTHANASIA. SHE IS ADOPTABLE, BUT LIKELY NEEDS RESCUE- AND THUS A FOSTER TO SAVE HER LIFE! Dear Kim, was found as an abandoned stray and ended up sadly at a very full, high kill shelter and needs out asap due to space. While she was chipped, her owner never came, and when we tried to get information from the shelter, they kept telling us to check back which we did numerous times. The shelter unfortunately only provided information on 4/28, the same day they sent out a 72 hour warning of pending euthanasia. Kim is said to be 10 years young, and now weighs 62 lbs. The shelter describes her as follows: 'Kim is a shy and sensitive girl who can feel nervous when first meeting new people, sometimes showing defensive behaviors until she has time to feel safe. Once given patience and gentle handling, she settles and is able to walk nicely on leash and navigate her environment. Kim prefers a calm setting, keeping to herself and coexisting peacefully with relaxed dogs, though she's not interested in play right now. She may flinch with touch and needs a patient, understanding home-ideally adult-only-where she can build trust at her own pace and feel secure. ADULTS ONLY REQUIRED. CALM DOGS REQUIRED.' Kim is approved for Public Adoption with a disclosure regarding her handling sensitivity. A full copy of her medical and behavior notes may be requested or can be found on the shelter Trello board: https://trello.com/c/Mak126X4 It should be noted she was just bitten on the face by another dog in playgroup on 4/27 and was therefore treated for her wounds, and had to be shaved so they could check her body. Despite what she has been through, after the attack, shelter notes state, 'Kim was moved to the side yard with a group of calm dogs, where she napped in the sun. She kept to herself as much as possible, but was able to coexist nicely with other calm dogs. Kim is tolerant of the other dogs, has a low energy level, and does not have a playstyle at this time.' The poor girl was also previously treated for an upper respiratory infection she had just recovered from. Kim can now be adopted with a medical waiver requiring follow up with a vet to make sure her wound is healing. If you can open up your home and heart to Kim to adopt, please contact the shelter asap and directly to adopt by calling (310) 940-6898 asap and reference her applicable ID .
