Maximus is a giant puppy stuck in a big, Big, BIG dog's body. He doesn't understand that he's 94Lbs and will routinely play with his whole body coming at you. He is 2 years old and may increase his weight to at least 100 pounds. He is generally outgoing and loose bodied, walks happily on the leash (very strong and does pull), takes directions well and has been friendly with everyone he's met. He rides in the car without getting sick. He is treat motivated and very easy to train. If you had some treats with you when you walk, he will stick by your side. Maximus originated from a rural country shelter originally because his young owners did not have any Rottweiler or large dog experience. He is the kind of dog that needs to be stimulated and allowed to run off his energy by having 'play time' outside. Maximus is a very sweet and trainable dog - but wasn't given much direction early in his life. He is very active and loves, loves to play. It is like he is trying to talk to you begging you to play. He definitely has something to say! He has good recall / knows how to 'sit, stay, bring it 'and has a true desire to play and learn. His foster mom is working with him daily on redirecting his playful attention to some downtime behavior. Through our interactions it seems like he was not given enough time, attention, or stimulation to keep a dog of his size and breed stimulated. And like a true Rottweiler he loves to play in water. If you do not own a pool in your home, I would recommend getting a kiddy pool so he can lounge around as well as happily play with his toys in the water. In the home he has experience with kids, another dog, and is crate trained and is very comfortable with a living indoors setting. Small children who don't understand boundaries though are probably not recommended as Maximus might accidentally knock them over. We recommend that he be adopted into a home with kids over 12 years old. We are not sure how he gets along with cats as he has not been in a situation to observe him. Maximus is a big sweet boy hoping to finally find his loving and capable home with a family who is experienced with Rottweilers and love the breed and understand that they are NOT a bully breed but more of a big baby who would be a devoted and loving pet.
