Dawson is a 1-year-old, stumpy-tailed blue heeler with a gentle heart and a second chance at life. Weighing just 28 lbs, he's a petite little guy with so much love to give. Dawson's journey started in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he was at high risk of euthanasia. He was living in an outdoor kennel with little visibility and very little chance of making it out-until rescue stepped in and gave him the opportunity to make his way to North Carolina. Dawson is timid but incredibly sweet and friendly. He wants love-he just needs a little reassurance to feel safe. He enjoys pets, attention, and quiet companionship, and he does great with other dogs. He's currently being fostered with another dog and has proven to be an easy, gentle presence. Dawson is very gentle by nature and may do well with children, especially those who are calm and respectful. However, because he is still building confidence, we recommend a quieter home environment where he can continue to feel safe and not become overwhelmed. Dawson would thrive in a home familiar with herding breeds or one willing to give him the patience and guidance he needs to build confidence. He's the kind of dog who forms deep bonds and will truly blossom in the right environment. Because of his shy nature, a secure home is essential. ӕ%8F Dog-friendly ӕ%8F Heartworm negative ӕ%8F Up to date on vaccinations ӕ%8F Neutered Dawson is looking for stability, patience, and love. Beneath that timid exterior is a soft, affectionate boy who just wants to feel safe enough to be himself-and when he does, he's going to be something really special. If you think Dawson might be the right fit for your home, we'd love to hear from you. Adoption application: https://blueysh4h.org/heeler-adoption-application-form/
