Hello, I am reaching out to inquire about owner surrender or rehoming assistance for my 6-year-old Border Collie/Australian Shepard mix located in Illinois. I am open to placement throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, and surrounding Midwest states. This decision is due to family circumstances and a mismatch in training expectations and consistency within the household. We did work with a trainer, but we are not able to maintain the level of structure and follow-through needed to meet his needs long-term. For that reason, we feel rehoming to an experienced and consistent home is the most responsible option for his well-being. I want to ensure a responsible transition and a suitable long-term home for him. About him: 6-year-old male Border Collie Moderate to high energy Extremely intelligent and very quick to learn new commands Thrives with daily exercise and mental stimulation Enjoys structured, active days and engagement with people Behavior/temperament notes: Can be anxious with loud noises (e.g., thunderstorms, fireworks) Displays territorial behavior, especially when on leash When off-leash, she is social and does well with other dogs No aggression toward other dogs in off-leash environments Best suited for an experienced handler familiar with herding breeds or high-drive dogs Ideal home: Active home with time for exercise and training Preferably experienced with Border Collies or similar working breeds Structured environment (he does best with routine and engagement) Rural or suburban setting would likely be best I am happy to provide veterinary records, additional behavioral details, photos/videos, and arrange a meet-and-greet if appropriate.
