About Gertie & Howard

Meet Howard & Gertie Howard and Gertie were born at Green Lake Area Animal Shelter in September of 2021. Their mom, Queenie, was a Treeing Walker Coonhound. Their litter faced a heartbreaking battle with parvo as puppies, and sadly not all of their siblings survived. Thankfully, Howard and Gertie pulled through together and were eventually adopted into the same home. Unfortunately, due to a recent divorce and increasingly busy work schedules, they were returned to us last week through no fault of their own. Howard and Gertie care deeply for one another and have spent their entire lives together. They could absolutely be adopted together again, but they can also be adopted separately if the right homes come along. Howard tends to overshadow Gertie a bit, and we believe she may truly blossom with more one-on-one attention. Both dogs are sweet, loving companions and have successfully lived with cats. They are looking for stable, loving homes where they can finally settle in for good.
