She enjoys being close to her people, but also appreciates having her own space. She'll come in for snuggles and then go find her own end of the couch to hang out on. She likes to cuddle, but also wants her own space...sometimes within minutes of initiating cuddles. She likes to play, but also likes her own space. She wants to be next to you, but then also wants to be on her own.' Re Homing because'|: 'Storm has anxiety that tends to manifest most around anything that beeps...microwave, coffee pot, oven, airfryer, etc...but also around anything resembling thunder. Upon hearing any of these noises, she gets anxious and will immediately Velcro herself to the nearest person or head to her crate. We moved to KY about 6 months ago and in the last month, she's decided the main level of our home is no longer safe...because it's where the kitchen makes scary noises. She's also decided going outside to go potty might be scary...but only sometimes, completely randomly. Sometimes when it's dark...sometimes in the daytime...sometimes when the wind blows...sometimes when the wind isn't blowing. There is no distinguishable rhyme or reason to any of it. The two biggest challenges: (1) we live in a golf course community and we're not allowed to have a fence around the yard and she's recently decided to start randomly running out of our backyard (where she was taught it's okay to be and where she was previously comfortable) and will run to the front of our house, and (2) we have a soon-to-be 1 year old Belgian Malinois puppy who is starting to be adversely affected by Storms anxiety. I'm most concerned that Storm could run out of the yard during a random episode and could run into traffic, end up down the street and confront another dog or person, etc. Secondarily, our Malinois puppy is starting to react to Storm's anxiety and it causes her to question her safety, stability, etc. She immediately recognizes Storm's behavior and starts to cower, question her own safety, etc. and I'm starting to be concerned Storm is going to 'break' her'. 'Storm is an amazing dog and we wanted our home to be her forever home, but we've realized we aren't capable of giving her the environment she really needs to thrive. When we rescued her, we didn't realize we would be moving and with the change of our environment, we now have issues we can't overcome that prevent her from being the dog she is capable of being.
