We received Rugby about 5 years ago. He is completely and fully house trained, letting us know he has to go out by sitting in front of us and whining under his breath. It's very cute. He obeys sitting, shake, high five (with his nose), spin, and jazz hands (by jumping in the air with his paws stretched upward). He sits and waits for his food and his treats until you say 'okay.' Rugby likes to go camping and hiking and has been trained to walk beside us on leash. He is a beautiful Red Healer with the proper face coloration, perky ears, and adorable black nose. He weighs about 55 pounds. His best friend is a female dog, and they play together and often stay at each other's house for short visits as well as long weekends. He loves to sit on our front porch and watch people walk by. He gets very protective when other dogs walk by, sometimes he gets aggressive and we have to put him inside. While he plays well with female dogs after he gets to know them, he stays aggressive toward male dogs. He gets yearly checkups without fail, and he is current on all vaccinations and vet-care. He is spayed and receives monthly flea, tick and heartworm preventatives. He will be sorely missed, but we feel it is necessary to rehome him to a family that can love him and care for him.
