Name: Coby Breed: Pit Bull Sex: Neutered Male Age: 6 years Weight: 79 lbs Animal Number: 4462 Sweet. Playful, Goofy, Snuggly Good with dogs? Coby is an 'only dog in the house' kind of boy. He is good with dogs when out walking on leash, but is reactive to dogs when off leash or in his home. He is frightened by small, yappy dogs. Good with cats? No, he has a strong prey drive and will chase small animals like cats, squirrels and bunnies. He sometimes needs to be reminded to focus on his leashed walk with a 'heel' or 'no' command. Good with kids? No, he does not appreciate being around children, and because of his size, excitement, and occasional jumping, he should be kept separate from children. Energy level: Medium. He loves one or two walks a day and generally gets worn out and ready for a nap after a 20-30 minute walk. He absolutely loves napping, and will wander over for a pet or a belly rub between naps. Medical needs: Coby takes one Apoquel pill nightly for his itchy skin, which he happily takes when it is wrapped in a small piece of cheese. He also had TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) surgery, a common orthopedic surgery for dogs with a torn ligament. He has fully recovered but his gait is slightly affected. Animal Characteristics: Coby is a handsome sweetie. He is playful, goofy and snuggly. He greets you with a wagging tail and usually a toy in his mouth. He loves to cuddle on the cough or get his belly rubbed. When he gets a new toy, he loves strutting with it through the house to show everyone. He loves naps by the furnace vent in winter and sun bathing in the summer. He loves riding in a car and looking out the window. He does not bark often but will 'woo woo' when he is excited by his food, or when his people come home, or when meeting new people. When meeting new people on leash Coby gets happy and excited and may sometimes jump up with friendliness when people stop to pet him. He likes all toys and is an expert 'squeaker finder.' While he loves squeaky noises, he is afraid of the sound of ice being poured into a cooler and very small, yappy dogs! Smart Coby knows many commands: 'sit,' 'down,' 'wait,' 'bed,' 'place,' 'come,' 'heel,' 'no,' and 'free.' Coby is a GOOD BOY and the perfect pet for the right home. His lack of separation anxiety, good potty and crate training, and low daily exercise needs make him a low maintenance companion for a home without other pets or children.
