URGENT AT PHOENIX, AZ - ID #A4361918 - 'CANELO' AT MARICOPA COUNTY ANIMAL CARE, WEST LOCATION- ADOPTABLE and HANDSOME CHOW/SHEPHERD LOOKING X LISTED AS PART SHIBA INU - NEEDS LOVING FOREVER HOME OR FOSTER AND RESCUE! People and dog friendly per former owner. We are in urgent need of finding a responsible forever home or foster for dear 'Canelo' who was surrendered after being adopted as a puppy from this same shelter about 6 years ago. Canelo is 59 lbs and said to be 7 years old now, and still full of many years ahead. Owner surrender notes show no reason why he was surrendered, but does state, 'SHY AROUND OTHER ANIMALS. WARMS UP AFTER A WHILE AND WILL BE MORE SOCIAL WITH OTHER DOGS. NO AGGRESSION NOTED. GOOD ON LEASH.' As Canelo has not been around children, the shelter recommends children ages 12 and up and a slow intro. He was apparently and sadly kept as an outdoor dog so may need some potty training. The owner said in his yard, he was 'FREE ROAM. NO DESTRUCTION.' While he is currently adoptable, he may become Rescue only and or also be soon at risk soon due to space, or if he declines in the shelter environment or gets sick.
