Jolene is a very sweet, affectionate girl who forms strong bonds with her person and loves attention once she feels safe. She enjoys belly rubs and has a playful, energetic personality, but she is currently very nervous around new people and unfamiliar environments. Because of this, Jolene would do best in a calm, structured home with a single woman where she can build trust at her own pace. She is not the kind of dog who will thrive being passed around or constantly meeting new people right now. With the right guidance, consistency, and confidence-building, she has the potential to become much more secure and stable. Jolene is a high-energy dog who needs both physical and mental outlets. In her previous home, she lacked clear boundaries and expectations, which shows up in behaviors like escaping the yard, getting into trash, and becoming overly excited (including submissive urination when overwhelmed). With proper training, structure, and leadership, these behaviors can improve significantly. She has a strong prey drive and cannot be placed in a home with small animals, including cats or chickens. For the same reason, she is not a good fit for homes with small dogs. Jolene does well with medium to large dogs of varying energy levels, though her play style can be enthusiastic. She would benefit from a well-matched canine companion or could thrive as a single dog with the right outlet and guidance. At her core, Jolene is a loving, loyal dog who just needs clarity, structure, and a patient handler to help her feel safe and understood. In the right home, she has the potential to truly thrive.
