Rook is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and in good physical health. In the home with us, he is incredibly affectionate, loyal, playful, and has a very sweet personality. He has bonded strongly with our family and is relaxed and happy in a familiar environment. However, he has significant fear-based reactivity toward strangers. When new people enter our home or approach us, he becomes extremely distressed and will bark, growl, and lunge in an attempt to keep them away. We have been working consistently with a professional trainer for the past 6 months, using multiple methods, but unfortunately have not seen meaningful improvement in his behavior around unfamiliar people. We want to be fully transparent that he is not currently safe with guests and would require: An experienced handler A low-traffic or adult-only home Careful management and continued behavior work We are committed to doing the right thing for him and want to avoid placing him in a situation where he could fail or someone could get hurt. Despite his challenges, he truly is a loving and wonderful dog with his people, and we believe with the right person and setting, he could have a good quality of life. We are located in Hastings, MI and are willing to travel for the right placement. We can also provide veterinary records, training history, and are happy to answer any questions.
