About Tristan

Tristan arrived at the shelter on March 22nd, so hasn't been at the shelter as long as all the other doggies I share on here from Chicago Animal Care and Control. Am sharing since am concerned. The shelter can be a very stressful environment, since the dogs are mostly without much human interaction, nor physical stimulation, since caged up for most of the time, surrounded by hundreds of other often barking dogs. Kennels aren't spacious, Shepherds aren't small breeds. Not good for any dog, but especially not for a German Shepherd breed, who needs physical and mental exercise and not an every-changing group of people, as they tend to be very loyal and bond strongly with their people. The shelter environment, any shelter, has very limited ability to provide any of what Tristan needs. Am concerned the toll the environment is taking on Tristan, the stress it is causing him, could eventually lead to being 'humanely' euthanized. The volunteers at the shelter report he is a very sweet boy. He just needs a home, a patient, loving family, who can provide what he needs. He met a female dog on leash and did well, even though the female dog, was overly enthusiastic. Please come meet him, contact this page, to do so. One can also foster Tristen, which is a very different process, than adoption, which I can explain, if contacted. Any dog that is adopted from Chicago Animal Care and Control, will be spayed/neutered by the shelter at no charge, same with microchipping, and current on core vaccines. Come, give the sweet, but timid, and somewhat stressed boy a chance. Very good boy.
