About Benji

Benji is looking for a fresh start. He first came to us back in 2021 and was quickly welcomed into a rescue before being adopted into a home for the last four years. Unfortunately, he was recently surrendered to us by his owners, and the rescue can't take him back. Benji is now looking for someone new to love! His previous owners described him as a smart boy who enjoys bones and squeaky toys. He was good with other dogs and with the family's children. In shelter, he's shown us a very gentle, sensitive side. He's great on a leash, and very easy to handle. Like most dogs used to a home environment he's finding the shelter to be a stressful place, and he's a little timid around new people at first. Give him a moment to sniff and warm up and he quickly leans into affection. He loves being pet and will happily stay right by your side to soak up all the love he can get. Benji knows how to sit on command, and has already been housetrained. He also takes treats gently from your hand. He can be a bit nervous at times - he often flinches at sudden movements and avoids eye contact when you tell him to sit on command like he's worried about getting in trouble - so he's do best with patient, positive handling that helps to build his confidence. He has a low to medium energy level.
