AVA is a cute 7 month old, 10 pound Chihuahua Dachshund mix puppy who came to us as an owner surrender. AVA is a sweet and cuddly girl who quickly bonds to her person. She can be a little nervous when meeting new people, but it doesn't take long for her to warm up and make friends. Once she feels safe, her affectionate side really shines. She enjoys playing with toys here and there and will happily romp and do a few zoomies with another small dog, but only in short bursts before she's ready to settle down for a nap or curl up in a lap. AVA does well with other small dogs and would benefit from having a small dog companion, especially if her person is away from home at times. She has good energy but doesn't constantly play, and enjoys the comfort and friendship of another dog. She has not been tested with cats or kids. AVA is doing well with potty training when kept on a routine, though she does not yet signal when she needs to go out. She has done well walking on a harness and leash in the yard but can be a bit skittish with new noises or surroundings. She will need patience and encouragement when learning to walk in busier areas. She is still gaining confidence and a fenced yard would be best for her. AVA sleeps quietly in the big bed but is also comfortable in a crate or playpen if you prefer. Just note that she can climb out of a shorter pen if given the opportunity! She rides calmly in the car and is generally quiet and not much of a barker, though she may whine briefly when her person leaves. AVA is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, on heartworm prevention, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
