About Pinto Pinto is a 1 year, 3-month-old Aussie mix weighing approximately 37 lbs. She is a playful, energetic, and affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with her people once she feels safe and comfortable. She enjoys attention, playtime, and being around those she trusts. Pinto does well with children and other dogs and has a gentle and loving nature in familiar environments. She thrives in a calm, patient setting where she can continue to build confidence. Pinto has a history that suggests past trauma, which has led to some fear-based behaviors. She can be shy with strangers at first and has shown situational, fear-based reactions toward one member of the household. These behaviors are not generalized, and she does not display aggression toward other animals. With time, patience, and consistency, she is able to settle and show her affectionate personality. She does experience mild separation anxiety and may be vocal when first left alone but is able to calm herself after a period of time. Pinto is currently being treated for a skin condition and is on an antibiotic, with a previous course of prednisone already completed. She is up to date on her vaccinations. Due to her needs, Pinto would do best in a home with an experienced owner who understands how to work with dogs who require patience and reassurance. A structured, low-stress environment will help her continue to grow and thrive.
