About Thomas

Thomas came to us after running on the streets alone for many months. No one could catch him!! He is one of the most lovable and snuggly guys there is. We are moving in a few months and life is going to be extremely chaotic for the next 6 months at least. He does best with routines. He loooooves his people. We have had him for a year. Now for his downfalls, which we eagerly worked with... until now because of our new housing situation. We will be remodeling two homes at once... one to sell and the other to move into. This will not be good for Thomas. 1) he would do best as an only dog or with 1 submissive dog 2) cats are unknown 3) he is incredibly shy with people at first... shy is an understatement. He acts like he wants to eat you!! But if you ignore him, he doesn't bite. Try to pet him and he lunges. He has to choose to come to you. 4) he is possessive and protective of his people. Strangers are not welcome around him. We have to put him up and then introduce them to him slowly. 5) He does something called resource guarding. If my husband is holding him, I cannot come and take him out of his hands. Thomas will lunge at me. But if my husband sets him down, I can easily pick him up. Same thing if I'm holding him and my husband tries to take him from me. 6) he loves sleeping on the bed, but again, resource guards. If he's on my side of the bed, my husband can't pet him ��%A4� 7) he is potty trained, but will pee on me a underwear's left on the floor. He will also pee on plastic bags left on the floor. Very strange. 8) he has grooming anxiety but we have medicine that works great on him! It sounds like he's awful, but we love him dearly, and after his past, we want him to be happy. He happiest sleeping near you , under your chair, or in your lap!! We also wanted you to know his quirks to be best informed on whether you would be willing to work with him.
