Gemma von Gehrde is a beautiful 3-4 year old sable German Shepherd. One look at her endearing face and you know she has a story to tell, she hasn't always been someone's cherished family member. This sweet, gentle soul has put it all behind her, with love and hope in her heart that someone will notice her and offer her a new better life. Gemma is often sitting out in front with volunteers at the rescue, you can just feel how she is savoring the moments, pressing up close to the volunteers. Gemma thrives on human connection and even being able to sit in the sun. She got lost in a huge, overwhelmed animal shelter for months, one of our volunteers was there and happened to see a sweet forlorn face looking up at her hopefully, she just couldn't leave her behind. Gemma cherishes every good moment, always checking up with you on her perfectly behaved leash walks and preferring to stay right by your side. Gemma is loving and kind as she greets both people and other dogs with a calm, friendly demeanor, though she is much more interested in receiving affection than playing with other dogs. Whether she's exploring the yard as a polite mingler, taking treats with gentleness, or working on her basic commands, Gemma's happy place is simply being near her person. With her medium energy level and successful passes with cats and small critters, she is a soulful companion ready to fill a home with love and loyalty.
