He witnessed severe domestic violence, He saw someone he loved being hurt, numerous times, �'�|and when it mattered most�'�| HE STEPPED IN�'�| Kevin intervened when a child was being strangled, when his Person was being abused, whenever he felt the abuse start again�'�| He STOPPED it, or tried stopping it�'�| �'�|but in doing so�'�| HE WAS ABUSED HIMSELF. Because of that Trauma�'�| Kevin now struggles with: Stranger Fear/Aggression. Protective/Territorial Behavior. PTSD/Trauma Responses. He may growl, bark, or show his teeth when he feels his family is threatened. This is NOT aggression out of malice. This is FEAR + PROTECTION from Trauma. Good with kids, dogs, and cats. House trained. Not crate trained (stays in bathroom when alone). No known medical issues. High energy / Low prey drive. 130 lbs. Good with car rides. A MESSAGE FROM THE CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'Kevin is an incredible dog and I believe without a doubt kept my family and I safe in a time when we needed protection. If not for him, I am not sure my family would be where we are now. As Kevin's owner, I want him to have a chance to thrive and succeed at life which I know I am not able to provide for him. While Kevin does have serious behavior issues to work through, he is incredibly smart and fearless in a way only a German Shepherd can be. He loves unconditionally and is eager to please (as long as you have a tortilla shell on standby). I had always wanted a shepherd and he came into my life at the time when I needed him the most. He isn't a 'bad dog' rather he is a silent victim of domestic violence that is often overlooked. He isn't being surrendered due to a lack of love, time or energy; rather, it is because I love him so much that I want him to have the best chance of life which I am hoping you can give to him - because he deserves it all and then some.
