Meet Dash - Loyal, Sweet Shepherd Mix Looking for the Right Home Dash is a neutered Shepherd mix, born July 11, 2021, weighing approximately 90-110 lbs. He's a big, loving boy with a great personality who is looking for a home where he can thrive. Dash is: Housebroken Quiet and well-mannered in the home Walks great on a leash Good with other large dogs Affectionate and loyal with his people He still has plenty of personality and spunk, and enjoys being around his family while also having a calm presence in the home. Background & Placement Needs (Please Read) Dash has been with his current owner since he was about 8 months old and had no behavioral issues prior to this incident. He has consistently been a well-behaved, social dog in the home. Up until about 6 months ago, he lived one-on-one with his owner and was not exposed to small animals. He has also been boarded with a relative who has several other large dogs and has always done well in that environment. About 6 months ago, he was introduced to small animals for the first time. More recently, there was an incident involving a small dog in an unsupervised setting. After veterinary review, it was not possible to determine whether this was due to rough play or instinct. As a result of this situation, his previous owner felt euthanasia was necessary. We strongly disagreed and stepped in to ensure Dash has the opportunity to find a safe, appropriate home. He deserves a second chance with someone who understands large dogs and can set him up for success. Since coming into our care, Dash has been boarded for the past week with several other large dogs. While understandably a bit nervous in a new environment, he has adjusted and continues to get along well with them. Because of this history, we want to be responsible in his placement. Dash would do best in a home without small animals, or with an experienced owner who can provide proper supervision and structure. Health Note Dash has a torn ligament in his back leg that may eventually need surgery, but he is currently mobile, gets around well, and continues to enjoy daily life. Ideal Home Experience with large breeds preferred No small pets, or a home that can provide structure and supervision Someone looking for a loyal, affectionate companion If you think you might be a good fit for Dash or have any questions, please reach out. We are focused on finding him the right home where he can succeed.
