About Splash

As much as we hate to say it, we're currently looking for someone with enough land (preferably a farm or large property) to take our 5 year old Australian Shepherd named Splash. We inherited him from our grandma, and he was great when we lived on plenty of land but we've recently moved to a much smaller property and we simply are not providing him the proper life that a high energy dog like him deserves. Which is why we are looking for him a new home. Splash is a well trained dog, very loyal and submissive, although he definitely likes to make his voice heard! You'll always know if someone is walking up to your house. He's quite defensive and not very playful with other dogs, but he has no problem tolerating them as long as they are not in his face. He's also not the biggest fan of loud children. He definitely has a bit of anxiety, not sure where it stems from but thankfully it doesn't affect his demeanor too much, he's just a little more antsy sometimes. He also takes his time when adjusting to new people. Which means that this is not a simple drop off situation. We want to make sure he has a proper home and is happy with his new life. It took him a while to get adjusted to us when we first met him, and we are expecting the same thing to be true for this. This dog needs a household that can keep up with an energetic lifestyle. He loves to chase a ball which makes him quite easy to keep exercised. He isn't leash trained but has been proven to be able to in the past, thankfully he's not heavy enough to take you off your feet and can most certainly be trained again. Cooling off in a kiddie pool is one of his absolute favorite things to do in the summer and as long as there is proper room for him to run, there will be no problem keeping this dog happy.
