About Red

My wife and I adopted Red about 6-7 months ago. We got all his vaccinations up to date. And he has been quiet, gentle, likes his space. In the last month or so, he has started randomly growling at my older child, 13, and my wife. My son would be the only one in the house in the morning getting ready for school. Red would be on the couch and when my son would walk in the room, Red would growl at him. Yesterday, Red stood up on his hind legs for my wife to pet him, but when she did he started growling. This is the first time I saw it in person. It's completely unprovoked and we don't know what to do. We have a 7yo and don't want to take the chance of leaving her alone with him in anyway. As much as I love him, I can't take the chance of him doing something to my kids. Can someone please help?
