About Douglas

Douglas is a wonderful dog, we are beyond heartbroken to have to find a new home for him. He has always been a nervous dog since a pup, we learned of his anxiety levels after going through 3 trainers and 1 behavioralist vet. The Vet did Rx Flouxitine (puppy prozac) he is 75% better on this!!! A huge improvement. While he is well trained, if he is uncomfortable he doesnt growl he just straight nips. He has leash reactivity, and he is very protective of his family. Unfortunately we are a family of 4 with 2 young kids. He has been known to nip at their hands if anyone touches his feet. The issue is that he appears very happy but its his anxiety. He dont describe him as aggressive even though he is mouthy. I do not let him out in the open in the house with new guests or children around, he spends his time in the guest bed room when we have friends over, because he is just a little unpredictable with how he will behave. I have tried muzzle training with him which is struggles with. He loves long walks and getting out. He likes to play and steal the ball and have us chase him. He really is a good boy but with the kids coming in and out of the house now its too much to manage. would be best in a home without children.
