About Draco

Draco is a striking Rottweiler/Husky mix who is as intelligent as he is engaging. He was originally purchased from a breeder as a puppy and has lived in a home environment his entire life. Draco was recently owner surrendered due to his owner joining the military, not because of any fault of his own. In his previous home, he was routinely taken to dog parks where he enjoyed playing with other dogs, showing that he has experience socializing and interacting appropriately in group settings. Draco is very people-oriented and enjoys working with his handler. He is attentive, responsive to guidance, and food motivated, which makes him an excellent candidate for continued positive reinforcement training. He takes treats gently and shows a willingness to engage, demonstrating both intelligence and a desire to connect with people. Draco displays curiosity about his surroundings but can be redirected, showing good potential to continue developing into a well-mannered companion with consistency and structure. During his evaluation, Draco showed appropriate tolerance for handling and demonstrated the ability to settle after stimulation. He has shown interest in other animals and previously lived a lifestyle that included regular dog park visits, suggesting he may enjoy canine companionship when introductions are done properly. As with any dog, slow introductions to new pets are recommended to ensure a successful transition into the home. Right now, Draco is struggling in the kennel environment and is becoming increasingly stressed. He is a dog who clearly thrives on interaction, activity, and routine, and the shelter setting is not allowing him to show his true personality. Draco urgently needs a home or foster placement where he can decompress and return to the stable lifestyle he previously knew. Without placement soon, a difficult decision may need to be made. Draco would do best in a home that can provide structure, regular exercise, and continued engagement. He is a loyal, intelligent dog who has already shown he can live successfully in a home and interact with other dogs.
