Sukey's human mom died a few years ago and her human dad a few weeks ago. Sukey has no home or family. Sukey has a very Doberman trait that unfortunately was not addressed in her first home. She's a RESOURCE GUARDER. I get it. Many people don't realize what it is or how to deal with it. I wish her family had reached out to a trainer but we can't turn back time. If you are not a 'dog person' familiar with resource guarding - this may just not interest you. But hopefully finding Sukey a new family will - so pass it on. Someone is out there for her - we've just got to find them. Resource Guarding means a dog (so common in female Dobermans) will 'guard' something they think is rightfully theirs. It's often their bed, your sofa, their food or their toys. You can train them but honestly training takes a while and Sukey doesn't have that long. Her extended family members are a tad afraid of her because they have seen her in action. IF you are already a little afraid of a Doberman and you see teeth and hear a snarl . . . We know Sukey is not an aggressive dog, she's just continuing a behavior that has not been checked. She needs a person with Doberman or at least Resource Guarding behavior experience. No children, no pets. Just an understanding adult or two that will give her love, teach her and be strong enough for her to respect. She has never bitten, just postures and snarls. A very sweet girl and excellent on a leash.
