Oso is a 1.5-year-old male Mini Aussie/Heeler cross with a heart full of try and a motor that's ready to go. He's currently living outside and is kenneled at night, doing great in that routine. This guy loves having a purpose and thrives when he has direction and one-on-one attention. Mornings are Oso's time to shine - he's full steam ahead and ready to work, play, or hit the trail. He makes an excellent walking partner with great leash manners, no pulling, and already understands sit and heel. He enjoys staying active, whether that's going on adventures or even jumping little jumps with our daughter. By afternoon, he's happy to slow it down and lounge in the sun, soaking it all in. Oso has a natural working drive, especially when it comes to cattle, and would excel with someone willing to continue developing that talent. He currently lives around horses and understands to respect them and leave them alone. He's looking for a home that appreciates an active, intelligent dog and is willing to give him the structure and purpose he craves. In return, Oso will give you loyalty, heart, and a true partner in whatever you set out to do. %BD%BD%90%BE. Oso currently lives on an unfenced 17 acres and does well as long as he has guidance, but he will wander if left unattended, so we keep him in a dog run when we're not outside. We occasionally take him into town for walks at the park, where he does great. He's very much a velcro-type dog who likes to stay close to his person and is highly aware of his surroundings. Oso's ideal home would be as a single dog or with a social, more submissive companion. He plays hard, and if things get too rough he can feel threatened and become defensive, so appropriate introductions and supervision matter. He thrives on one-on-one attention, clear direction, and has a high food drive that makes him very trainable. Oso does wear a bark collar and respects it well, especially since he lives around cattle and naturally wants to work and bark when they're nearby. This is a higher-drive dog who will do best with someone experienced and structured, as the heeler breed demands. He is protective of his home and should be managed accordingly. He is very social with our kids but more aloof with new adults and wary of strangers, taking a little time to warm up. For an active, outdoors-oriented home or someone wanting a dog for agility or cattle work, Oso will absolutely shine. He has exceptional natural ability on cattle, already showing instinct for heeling and controlling a herd. This is not an apartment-type dog unless his exercise and mental stimulation needs are consistently met through activities like walking, hiking, or training. Oso is well trained on a leash, clean and quiet in his dog run, and has a solid sit with a down command that is coming along nicely. His recall off leash is great when he knows you have a high value reward - treats. Otherwise he could use some work on free range recall. We've raised him since he was a puppy, and this has not been an easy decision. Ultimately, we recognize that we don't have the time he deserves to reach his full potential or provide the consistent one-on-one attention he thrives on. Rehoming him is the right choice for Oso as an individual, and we are committed to finding him the perfect fit where he can truly excel. Oso is up to date on vaccinations and has been neutered.
