Dru is a 10-month-old, 55 lb sweetheart with a big smile and an even bigger heart. He's neutered, micro-chipped, and fully vaccinated. As Dru's foster mama, I met him on the first day he arrived at the shelter and could see right away that he is the total package: cute puppy, fun, and lovable. We aren't quite sure what Dru's story was before he was picked up as a stray but he seems like he once had a family. He loves attention and cuddles, he knows sit and he is potty-trained. Dru is a very handsome boy. He is a large dog and muscular. He is friendly, trusting with people-including kids-and does well with other dogs (he was co-housed with another buddy at the shelter). He has a wonderful personality and enjoys being near his people. He's a happy, loving boy who forms strong bonds and just wants to be part of your life. He loves riding in the car. He's very smart, but he will need continued training-especially with leash manners and general puppy skills. Like many big puppies, he doesn't quite realize his own size and strength yet! He's an active guy who would thrive with someone who enjoys an active lifestyle. A yard would be a big plus. Because of his size and training needs, Dru would do best with someone who will invest the time and energy for proper training or with someone who is experienced with working breed dogs to provide the structure, consistency, and guidance that he needs. When I first met Dru, he was playful, confident, and full of life-we played fetch, and he never got tired of it. The shelter environment is hard for most dogs and Dru was no exception. Each time I visited he seemed a little more withdrawn than the last visit. He wasn't interested in fetch anymore and seemed more unsure compared with the confident boy that came in. After almost a month, I brought him home to foster so we could put him on the fast track to finding a family.
