Issa is a smaller Pyr, currently around 80#. She was the runt of the litter. She is 8 years and we are attached; she is loving and mostly obedient in heel, sit, lay, come (if you're in the house) and responds to hand signals for those commands. A problem: She doesn't recall and will take off if she gets a chance, but she does return in about twenty minutes. She is my first Pyrenees and I have struggled to train her. My 3 chows (2 older rescues) were no problem for me to train to be easy companions (even sneak in hotels and finish my sentence s). Issa refuses recall & will go on a lark, returning willingly in about 20 -40 mins. So I keep her leashed when she might take a sudden sprint. This is a real puzzler- Pyrenees Whiperer Anyone? She has food possessiveness and her bowl has to be kept out of sight until feed time or she will snap and growl and sometimes bite at anyone that comes near it even empty, except me. Good for me but she WILL steal my dinner off the table, from anyplace her long legged paws can reach, a cabinet. I do feed her excellent clean home cooked diet as she tends to have auto-immunity and lick her paws. So here is a sweet, bored dog, I think she needs a job, makes serious mischief because she's with the wrong owner. Got sheep?
