Bear is a young, male border collie who was most likely mixed with an Australian Shepard. He looks very much like a purebred border collie, but I do not have formal papers for him. Bear is approximately 50 lbs with a silky black and white coat. He has a clean bill of health from my local vet (Caring Hands of Alexandria, VA). Bear is micro-chipped and up to date on shots. Bear is a total sweetheart who would love a quiet life in the countryside. I adopted him on DEC 31, 2025 from my local Animal Welfare League. Very little was known about his background. He is originally from rural WV. I live in a mid-rise condo in the DC beltway, and this is not the right environment for him. He is sensitive to loud noises and prefers more rural environments. He is wonderful at dog parks and with 95% of other dogs. Bear is afraid of aggressive breeds. He is OK with cats. He is happy to meet new people (including children) when he is outside of the condo. The fine print: Bear will not walk on a leash in urban settings. He is extremely fearful and hesitant. He would do great in a home with other dog friends. Bear needs reassurance and other dogs to show him that walking on a leash is OK. Please reach out if you would like to arrange a meet and greet. Serious adopters only.
