About Hugh

Hugh is a 3-year-old, 120 lb Great Dane who narrowly escaped the euthanasia list at the San Antonio shelter. Today he's safe in foster care in Pflugerville, TX, where his sweet, goofy personality is shining through more each day. Once Hugh feels comfortable, he's an affectionate boy who loves being close to his people-often showing his love with his signature full-body Dane hugs. Hugh has been working with a fantastic trainer, and we've learned that he's simply a very anxious guy who does best with calm, compassionate handling and a predictable environment. When his world is structured around helping him feel safe, he truly thrives-as we're seeing every day in his foster home. We also want to be transparent that Hugh was previously adopted, but it ultimately wasn't the right fit. Because of this, we're committed to finding a home that will truly set him up for long-term success.
