About Kilroy

Adoption Fee: $0
American Staffordshire Terrier mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

All I need is one person to say yes to me, to take me home, to possibly save my life. I am considered a longer-term doggie at the shelter (arrived on Feb. 3rd), so when it gets over-capacity, which it often does, I may be euthanized to make space, dumped into a black plastic garbage bag..., as I didn't matter. At the end, nothing will be left of me, no one will even hold a memory of me in their heart. I am only about 2 years old, have lots of life yet to live, love yet to give, if given a chance. The volunteers say I am, 'pure joy' and give my 'whole heart' to the humans I meet here. I love to cuddle, one of my favorite things, but sadly, does not happen much, since so many doggies here, not enough volunteers. I am very playful with other dogs, on leash, and off leash (boy and girl doggies). Please come visit me. Maybe take me home? Hold me in your heart, I hold you in mine. Come. Human speaking here now, with an important edit, but not an insurmountable situation. Kilroy has tested positive for heart worm. Please read up on it, but there is treatment, very successful treatment. Per volunteer at Chicago Animal Care and control, volunteer who interacts with the Kilroy there, knows him well, that this page is in contact with, Kilroy is not demonstrating any signs or symptoms of heart worm, so probably in the early stage of it. Treatment can be relatively expensive, BUT there are dog rescue organizations that will cover the cost of the treatment. One can foster to adopt through these rescue organizations or if prefer, just foster, without adopting. I am able to sponsor the rescue organization's adoption fee if interested in adopting Kilroy, so there will be no cost to the adopter. Besides the rescue organization covering the cost of the treatment, it covers any other cost while being fostered/fostered to adopt, such as food, all vet visits, toys, .... Foster parent provides a home, love, care, chance at a life, .... We can help walk you through the process of applying to a rescue organization. Can also adopt directly from the shelter/Chicago Animal Care and Control, but then the cost of the treatment for the heart worm will be the responsibility of the adopter. Please, please consider, whichever route prefer, since heart worm positive dogs have an even greater chance of being euthanized at municipal shelters. If anything is unclear, please reach out, we can discuss. Kilroy's story doesn't have to end here. He matters, let's prove he matters!!!
