Meet Frankie, an adorable 2-year old chihuahua-shepherd mix who is looking for his forever family! Frankie loves nothing more than being outside, playing with a pup sibling, and relaxing after a long day cuddled up next to his people. A medical diagnosis in our family and Frankie's need to live with another dog has caused us to make the very difficult decision to find him a new home where he will thrive! Frankie is an active dog who loves to run around the yard (including his signature hopping!), walking and hiking, and loves learning new tricks. Frankie loves other dogs - in fact, his anxiety is significantly reduced by being around other dogs who are as playful as him. This is why we sadly cannot give him the home and life he deserves, as we cannot adopt another dog. He just loves playing with another dog that has a similar playful energy. He will thrive in a quieter home with another playful dog, maybe a home where a younger pup has lost an older dog sibling and you're looking to fill that playmate role for your dog! It can take him a bit to warm up to humans, and he doesn't feel comfortable with children, so a home with mature aged children or ideally no children is important. He loves running around in the yard, so a fence is important. Frankie is completely house-trained, knows basic commands like sit, down, and some other fun ones! He's crate trained, loves to go in his crate and doesn't experience any separation anxiety! Frankie is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and microchipped. Frankie experiences anxiety. He is medicated and has had ongoing training to help. We have come to realize through much experience that a big part of his anxiety is due to being in a home with no other dogs. When he is in a home with another dog, he is much calmer, confident, and able to regulate his emotions. We believe his meds could possibly be reduced once he's living with another dog full time.
