Picked up as a stray with no microchip at a track meet. Our town is very small, on rare occasions do we pick up a dog we have never seen & have an owner claim it. We knew this was more than likely a dumped dog and they used the high school track meet to do so. To no surprise, she was not claimed. She is kennel trained, loves kids, and has done ok with our male dogs. We have not had any females to test her with currently. She is a laid back girl who obviously loves snacks & belly rubs. She is a 101lb husky mix that is well overweight, heartworm positive (being treated thanks to a local rescue), and has dental issues. Our facility is low budget and unable to have her dental treated. All of her incisors on top and bottom are decaying and she is currently on a soft and dry mix. We are not only concerned about her dental, but her stay in our shelter as well. We are a non-climate-controlled facility on the Texas coast. We have fans to help with comfort, but her breed, being excessively overweight, and treating for heartworms, can be a challenge to keep her at a safe temperature as the Texas heat hits! Our shelter being in a rural area with nearly no outside passing traffic makes it a challenge to adopt healthy dogs over 35 lbs. We fear this girl may not get a chance at a second home if not rescued or adopted soon. If she is not declining in health and we have kennel space, we will do everything in our power to find her a home or rescue. We have posted on our Facebook page & emailed rescues also for assistance with no luck so far. *All meds and soft food will be sent with her.
