We are looking to rehome our wonderful German Shepherd, Marvin. While Marvin is sweet as can be around humans, he is reactive to dogs (highest reactivity), cats, and joggers, scooters, and bikes coming quickly toward us. Jen rescued him from a shelter 2.5 years ago where he was brought in as a stray. His reactivity makes living in a city challenging for him, where he is constantly encountering his triggers. We have put Marvin through an extensive training program with the Dog Wizard (we highly recommend them!), and while he has definitely shown signs of improvement, he will likely always have some degree of reactivity in a city setting. His ideal home is a rural one with no other animals. Marv's natural state is 'calm couch potato.' He loves curling up in a cozy spot and soaking it all in, whether that's inside or on the porch with you. He knows basic commands (sit, stay, place, heel) and would love for you to teach him a new one! If he gets too excited trying to initiate play and starts to nibble, say 'get a toy,' and he'll go find one. He may want you to join in on the fun, though. This handsome boy will be 5 years old May 2026, and has a special diet of hypoallergenic kibble due to a sensitive GSD tummy and a chicken allergy. Good news for you though, you'll know exactly what to feed him! Marvin is the sweetest dog; he just needs to live in the country, away from his triggers. If you can give him that, his reactivity won't show and instead you'll have a calm, sweet, love-filled best friend ready to follow you to the end of the earth. Marv is often complimented on being so calm, sweet, and great at following directions.
