'Smokey is truly a sweet boy. He is a gentle, soulful protector, and we love him beyond words. However, after consulting with four different veterinarians, the consensus is that relocating him to a cooler, drier climate is the only way for him to have a meaningful quality of life. 'Living in the Texas humidity has become a health crisis for him. Smokey has severe sensitivities to the Texas climate especially Bermuda Grass. His immune system is on 24/7, causing him to lose hair around his eyes, nose, and paws. Every 3 months he is back on steroids, antifungal and antibiotics, along with ear infection drops. 3 years of allergy treatments are no longer work because the environmental load here is simply too high. 'Important Details about Smokey: 'EPI & Diet: He is stable on his enzyme routine and is currently on Zignature Select Cuts Lamb Formula (legume/chicken-free). '܉'The ideal climate he needs is a Northern or high-altitude dry state (like CO, UT, WY, MT, or MN) where a hard freeze and low humidity will eliminate the triggers torturing his skin. We would prefer for him to go to a home where he would be the only dog.
